January 2008, AstraZeneca announced to become a major sponsor of the UK Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010. AstraZeneca’s sponsorship will directly support the design, development and staging of the British pavilion.
January 2008, AstraZeneca officially announced to donate free IRESSA drugs (total $28 Million) to China Charity Federation (CCF) and CCF takes charge of handling the project, with the aim to offer great benefits for lung cancer patients who are unable to afford the continuing treatment due to financial reason.
January 2008, China/UK Partners in Health (PiHI) was signed between China and UK governments. AstraZeneca has committed to supporting the yearly training program (also called PiHI AZ Program). The main purpose of “PiHI AZ Program” is to enhance the exchange between healthcare communities of UK and China and to encourage the innovation in terms of healthcare management, medical services and technologies etc.
